My dearest reader,
My cousin shared a story with us about a woman who lived in her town.
This woman was always offering to pray for people, even those she didn’t know.
Whenever she offered to pray for someone (or someone asked her to pray for them), she would write down their intention on a slip of paper and tuck it in her purse.
When she would pray at night, she would read through each intention, offering them up before God. She would then roll the slip of paper up and slip it into what she referred to as “The God Box”.
She prayed for all those who had slips of paper in the God Box.
When she passed away, her daughters went through her belongings and found dozens of boxes filled with small slips of paper. Their mother, it would seem, had been praying for people for years. Knowing she could never recall each prayer request, she had created a way to physically give over to God the concerns of those she encountered in her life. She gave over to God each one of those intentions, always believing that God would then take it from there.
As a way to bring this to the digital world, I have installed a “God Box” on the blog.
Please feel free to give over your intentions to God and know that once you do so in faith, “He’s got it from there”.
Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Summitt
Prayer before submitting your intention:
Gentle Jesus, with faith in Your healing powers and confidence in Your constant compassion, I ask you to heal my suffering spirit. May my soul find rest in Your comforting love and relief from sorrow and anguish. Relying on Your love, I especially ask Your help in (name your concern.) I place my trust in Your power to heal my spirit from feelings of hopelessness, unrest, and despair.
Amen.
