Among some of the more interesting news articles chronicling the woes of our current elected officials in DC there was an article that reminds us not to bite the hand that feeds you. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=9635062
CEOs, responding to a SCOTUS decision on campaigning by special interest groups, sent a letter to the Hill imploring the institution of campaign finance reform to include public financing:
“Members of Congress already spend too much time raising money from large contributors,” the business executives’ letter says. “And often, many of us individually are on the receiving end of solicitation phone calls from members of Congress. With additional money flowing into the system due to the court’s decision, the fundraising pressure on members of Congress will only increase.”
While the communication doesn’t explicitly state this, I have to imagine that spending the past 18 months hearing how evil they are, how overpaid they are, how they should be penalized and taxed more helped make the decision to basically tell Congress they are fed up with being asked to contribute huge sums of money to help these losers politicians get re-elected.
Personally, if I made millions each year and had to read such nonsense about how capitalism is evil and people who are successful in life should be forced to pay more and more in taxes as part of the current administrations overt wealth redistribution plan, I would change my phone # and send the money calls to voice mail…
“Thank you for calling. If you’re a friend or family member, please leave a message as I am now screening my calls thanks to the gutless politicians who think my wallet should be open to fund their re-election providing them with additional years to tell the American public how evil they believe I am for having enough money to help fund their re-election. If you’re looking for a political donation, please note that I only donate to charitable causes, not lost causes so don’t leave a message.” …beep
I hope this is the dawning of a new day in American politics where those with the real power, the American people, tell these goons politicians that we’re tired of big money deciding elections when candidates should win based on what type of person they are and what good they will bring to this country!
